Mary Baker Eddy was an American Hindu witch-guru. She taught that matter does not exist (Hindus teach it is a conditional illusion) and thus led tens of thousands of people to their deaths because they denied the reality of their diseases. Still today in India many Hindus believe that Vedanta can lead to similar healing miracles as Eddy proposed, just so long as you reject the realness of physical reality. Anyone who wishes to learn about the psyche of Mary Baker Eddy and your typical Hindu guru should read Mrs. Eddy by Edwin Franden Dankin (PDF below). Eddy was a liar, a plagiarist, a thief, thought only she was right, was a charlatan, was a quack (think Ayurveda), was paranoid, superstitious, very difficult to deal with, and above all else narcissistic; she was money and power hungry and sabotaged others, she was all around a terrible person. I think anyone ex-Hindu will find much similarity between Mary Baker Eddy and your typical Hindu guru.
